Top 5 Grown Ups Only Party Themes to Steal
In our last post we came up with some pretty cool ideas for party themes that weren’t specifically for children, but were family friendly. However, not all of us have kids or have friends with kids. And even if kids are a part of our lives, sometimes we’d like a night without them. This post features our top five party theme ideas for grown-ups only. So call the babysitter and get ready for some R-Rated fun. Cue tequila shots and partial nudity.
Literary icons and tequila - now that’s a match made in heaven. Decorate the venue so it looks like we’re in the middle of a depression. In the current economic climate, that shouldn’t be too hard. Then tell everyone to dress up as their favourite literary character. Serve Deep South-themed snacks, like fried chicken pieces, pie, biscuits and grits - if you can figure out what grits are. Serve your guests a shot of a tequila when they arrive to really drive the pun home.
Come As You Were
We knew there was a reason you never threw those baggy Calvin Klein jeans and oversized checked shirt away. Whatever your style was in high school, it’s time to bring it back, from crop tops and dungarees (with one strap undone, obviously) to butterfly hair clips and tie-dyed bell bottoms. You can create an awesome playlist of all the music you used to listen to, and if you’re lucky, maybe your best friend’s husband’s brother-in-law will do the Moon Walk for the crowd.
An ABC (Anything But Clothes) Party
This one is a bit more risqué than the other options on this list, but could be a lot of fun. The only rule is you can’t wear regular clothes. Think sheets, bubble wrap, caution tape, and for the really brave, full body paint. We have the appropriate weather, so if you are going to have a party that requires the guests to be scantily clad, this is the season for it.
Hosting a Murder Mystery party is a bit complicated for such a short entry, but there are plenty of guides online on how to host a great one. If it’s a smallish house party (no more than 20 people) you can easily do it all yourself. But if it’s a larger function at a hired venue, you might want to consider hiring an events management company to do the grunt work so that you can enjoy the party and be a part of the game with your guests.
Surprise The Pizza Delivery Guy
This party theme can be loads of fun, and while you’re having a good time, you will be giving the pizza delivery guy (or guys) a funny story to tell. The idea is to invite a bunch of people around for a party and just supply drinks. Then when everyone is there, order a couple of pizzas. When the delivery guy arrives, get everyone to hide, then when you open the door and let him in, everyone jumps out and yells, “Surprise!” Repeat with a few different pizza companies and before you know it, you have thrown a themed party and had it catered.
