Teacup Cupcakes Recipe

Making your cupcakes in a beautiful teacup is a pretty and unusual idea for a tea party, kitchen tea, bridal or baby shower or children's party.  Imagine the delight on the faces of your guests when they see your beautiful creation!  You can use any cupcake recipe you desire, just make sure that your teacups are heat and oven proof!  We're using a delicious rose water cupcake recipe to go with the pretty birthday teacup theme.

  • 2 cups self-raising flour, sifted
  • 3/4 cup caster sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 125g butter, melted, cooled
  • 2 x 59g eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Rose Water
  • 12 heat/ oven proof teacups

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Grease your 12 oven proof teacups and place on cookie trays.
  2. Combine flour and caster sugar in a bowl. Make a well in the centre.
  3. Add milk, butter, eggs and vanilla to flour mixture. Using a large metal spoon, stir gently to combine.
  4. Spoon mixture into prepared teacups. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  5. Once your cupcakes are cool, frost them with a swirly buttercream icing tinted in the colours of your party.  To add some extra fragrance to the recipe - try adding a drop of rosewater to the frosting.   Here’s our easy how to create a swirly buttercream top on your cupcakes demonstration.
  6. Add sprinkles, sugar roses or other edible decorations to the tops of the teacup cupcakes and serve.
