Okay so turning forty-five can seem pretty daunting. You are now five years off the big five-oh. If you are planning your party or are planning a party for the approaching forty-five year old have some fun with a magic theme. Everyone knows that magic comes down to smoke and mirrors, sleight of hand and sparks. To dazzle and amaze which is what you will do with this party and also turn back the hands of time – forty five? Japanese 25th Birthday Party Ideas

How great is Japanese food? I love it! I am a huge fan of sushi, even more so now I can make it up at home. A few years ago I had the pleasure of stopping by Japan on my way over to Canada and loved the place. Hubby and I really want to take the kids there one day. I think I bought more souvenirs from Japan in the two days I was there than I did in the month I spent in Canada! Their food is so tasty and healthy and sushi night at the Jarvis house is so much fun. So here is an idea for a 25th birthday plan; why not hold a Japanese inspired pre-party dinner? Invite some friends round to enjoy Japanese food and drink before heading out to party the night away.   more »

Day Spa Home Spa Party Ideas

There are mixed emotions when it comes to giving a woman a trip to the day spa for a facial for her birthday. Some (like me) would be eternally grateful that my husband was going to be locked in the house with our two kids whilst I indulged in a facial and pedicure. Other women look at it like the person giving them the gift is implying that their looks are getting the better of them. Each to their own I guess, but at the heart of it all we all love a good pamper. I have even considered a beauty course because it can be so much fun. But for me I love home-made beauty treatments. Yep! Domestic Goddess Home Day Spa.   more »

All That Jazz 1920's 18th Birthday Party Ideas

A little bit different for an 18th birthday party, and for some a little edgy why not break out the old jazz sounds and host a “Chicago” themed birthday party. Why would this be an edgy choice for a party you ask? Are you familiar with the musical “Chicago”? Based on the Chicago Tribune’s reporting’s of two murder trials of Beulah Annan and Belva Gaertner in 1924, by journalist Maurine Dallas Watkins.   more »

98, 99, 100 - 100th Birthday Party Ideas

I want to live to be a century. According the pros who are living that dream, their advice has been “eat your veggies”, “don’t eat veggies”, “drink beer/whisky/rum/milk”, “smoke”, “don’t smoke”, “live in the country”, “don’t watch the news”, “get out and exercise”, “don’t exercise”, “have nookie everyday”…oh no, wait!   more »

Ideas on Hosting Progressive Dinner Parties

Is it time to dust off your dinnerware and polish up the silver for a dinner party? You want to do something a little different this time around? 40th Birthday Party Ideas - An Open Letter to Cameron Diaz

Dear Cameron Diaz, It was recently brought to my attention in a tabloid magazine that this year you are turning 40. At first I was shocked that a magazine would reveal the true age of a female celebrity (a lady never reveals her age or weight) and to this day I am pretty sure no one really knows how old the likes of Cher and Joan Rivers actually are. Yes, this story was about you allegedly tweaking and touching up your already beautiful looks to fend off the ravages of time and loves lost as you approach the 4-   more »

Okay the romantic dinner is planned and now what? Why not put together a party? Have friends and family over to celebrate the month of Cupid in light-hearted fashion. Why not put together a dinner party under the stars? Vegas 21st Parties

I am not sure what is worse, having your birthday referred to as a milestone or a landmark birthday. Gives me the impression that at school you used to write on slate boards and your books were carried tied up in a piece of string. Where did this come from? In all the glossy magazines there are always photos of the young and careless celebrities partying it up at TAO   more »

Melbourne, Australia’s New York City Soho district – a city that experiences four seasons in one day and does so in an artistic and espresso filled way. New Years Eve Party Ideas for Adults

As 2011 gallops to a close I find myself thinking about New Year’s Eve and wondering what happened to the girl who used to dash across the Queensland /New South Wales border to experience not one, but two New Year’s Eve countdowns with unbridled excitement and joy.   more »

Summer is a grand time of year.  An Australian summer means different things to different people.  To me, summer means end of year holidays, wearing summer dresses and thongs all day, the Tennis Australian Open and eating ice-cream more often than not.    more »
