Office Christmas Party Ideas that Rock
‘Tis the season that office employees look forward to all year. Whether the company you work for is big or small, any employer worth their anti-slip snow salt will do something special for their staff within the month leading up to Christmas. But putting up a few strings of tinsel and purchasing red and green plastic cups to fill with cheap sparkling wine is getting a bit old, so we have come up with some great ideas to make this year’s office Christmas party an event to remember.
Larger companies who have hundreds of employees will probably have to look at hiring a venue for the end of year bash. Of course if you are strapped for cash you could have it in the office, but dancing around the desks and spilling bubbly over keyboards isn’t ideal. Also, if the research is to believed, your employees will have a difficult time switching out of work mode and into party mode when they are surrounded by reminders of deadlines and emails that need replies.
Your staff will love the thought you've put into personalised Christmas invitations, and throw in a matching personalised Christmas decorations like banners, table runners and garlands for the ultimate Christmas party treat.
Once you’ve picked a gorgeous venue, it’s time to adorn it with things that twinkle in the starlight. The old holly-themed colours are a bit late seventies, early eighties and calls to mind the set of the first Die Hard film, so we recommend zhuzhing things up a bit now that we are in the 21st century.
A classic, elegant and timeless look is black or white with sprinklings of metallics. Think black or white tablecloths scattered with acrylic diamond scatters in between pre-poured glasses of bubbly, where your staff can help themselves to drinks throughout the evening. And nothing adds class and festivities to an event quite like fairy lights so be sure to have an abundance of those. Snowflakes are also a great symbol of Christmas, so you might want to add a few silver snowflake decorations like hanging snowflakes and snowflake balloons.
When it comes to entertainment, we highly recommend hiring a DJ – one that’s going to play all the favourites for your staff to dance and sing along to. Just because you have brought your décor into the 21st century doesn’t mean the music has to follow suit. Seeing Cheryl from accounts let her hair down and rock the air guitar to Bon Jovi’s “Living On A Prayer” will be worth the DJ’s fee alone.
Another really fun idea is hiring a photo booth with a green screen and Christmas-themed props where your staff can dress up and get superimposed onto backgrounds populated with snowy mountains, elves and reindeer. Just because we are in the heart of summer doesn’t mean we shouldn’t enjoy the beauty of a White Christmas.
To make your employees feel really special, end the evening off by giving each of them a goody bag filled with delicious Christmas-themed snacks, like these silver chocolate bells to fit with your sparkly theme, these personalised Christmas jelly bean favours and a lovely festive candle.
