Kitchen Tea Ideas to Make Her Bridal Shower Perfect

bridalshowersmall.jpg

Planning a wedding can be very stressful, which is why the wedding gods came up with the kitchen tea. The main purpose of this event is to help the bride-to-be forget that the florist only has medium pink roses for the wedding centrepieces, instead of the light medium pink roses she’s been dreaming about since she was a little girl. So just let her kick back, relax, and have some fun before the big day.

The tradition of the kitchen tea goes back to the days of yore, but they have gone through quite an evolution in that time. Gone are the days of aunties sitting around giving the bride miniature household appliances she doesn’t really need. But that doesn’t mean you have to go all out with firemen strippers and body glitter either. There are plenty of ways to have a fun, girly bridal shower while keeping things sophisticated.

Kitchen Tea Table Centrepieces

Pamper party

Spa days are fantastic, but can be a bit pricey if you want to accommodate a large group of people, so we suggest keeping this one for the bridal party. Do your research and find somewhere that has good reviews – many of the nice hotels have wonderful spa services, and then you have the option of booking a suite for the night so you can all really relax. Get the whole package with mani-pedis, facials and massages so all the ladies ladies look and feel fantastic on the big day. And weddings are expensive, so have all the bridesmaids chip in to cover the cost of the bride’s treatment. It’s a small gesture that will be greatly appreciated.

Lingerie party

Giving the bride-to-be sexy knickers for her to wear on her wedding night is a tradition that goes back to Byzantine times, when the knickers were gilded. These days there’s much more variety, so when shopping for the lady of the hour, you can go smouldering temptress or virginal white – always nice to have a bit of variety. A fun game to play at a lingerie party is to have a silly challenge on the note on each gift so you can watch the bride make a bit of a fool out of herself.

High tea

Everyone loves unnecessarily large varieties of tea served up with cucumber sandwiches and scones with jam and cream - a gorgeous tea party theme. This option is definitely for the more sophisticated bride, so be sure to have classy décor and the right forks for the cake. If she has a bit of a whimsical side, having a theme is always a fun idea. We love an Alice in Wonderland tea party theme, but if she’s not a Lewis Carroll fan, you can do a Paris party theme, or something more generic, like polka dots and stripes.

Tea Party

Mixing it up

Traditionally the kitchen tea is a female affair, but most people have friends of both genders, so it seems a bit unfair that the boys should be excluded based solely on anatomy. And if a couple has been together for a long time, chances are they will have a lot of mutual friends, so why not do a combined kitchen tea/bachelor party. A brunch is a civilised, gender-neutral affair, or you can do an evening soiree complete with champagne and canapés.

Whatever kitchen tea theme you decide on, get some beautiful kitchen tea decorations and kitchen tea party supplies right here at Australia's #1 online wedding and party shop.
