Ideas for Wedding Balloons

weddingbrideandgroomwithballoons.jpg

There was a time when balloons weren't top of the wedding trend pile. People had discarded them in favour of 'hipper' wedding decorations in quirky materials. Thankfully, balloons are back in vogue, on the pages of wedding magazines and Pinterest boards around the world. These aren't the balloons you remember from kids parties. Used in the right way, wedding balloons can achieve unimagined levels of elegance and sophistication.

Two of balloons' greatest strengths are their versatility and variety. No matter your theme, colour scheme or sense of taste, you can find the right combination of balloons to suit your wedding.

The classic look is metallic gold or silver balloons. These are perennial favourites that never go out of style. They can be arranged to varying degrees of eye-catching and work well with other decorative elements. Try out a few different shapes too, as they are available in round, heart and star shapes.

Confetti-filled balloons punch up the frivolity of any party. These ingenious balloons are made from clear latex and filled with multi-coloured confetti. Mix them in with arrangements of solid colour balloons to create a sense of dynamism or have them by themselves to make a great splash. Keep a close eye on guests with a history of troublemaking as they'll be hard-pressed to resist popping them. Don't be too hard on them if they yield to temptation, as no wedding ever suffered badly from too much confetti.

If you want to make a big impression, go for the Vintage Affair Pink & White Giant Feature Balloons. These large 36-inch balloons come in a pack of three and can be fixed to virtually anything to create a dramatic display. Available in pink and white, they can be blinged up with some silver ribbon to really dazzle.

If that's still too subtle for you, try the Giant Balloons, available in a variety go colours. These humungous 90cm behemoths make one heck of a statement. It's advisable to not have too many in a bunch as you'd run the risk of rendering the bride invisible. Placing a few here and there will enliven bare corners. Make sure to tailor them to your colour scheme as they can be jarring otherwise.

Balloon weights are practical tools as well as a great way of adding an extra element of visual intrigue. They are essential to creating professional looking table centrepieces. Glittering and tasselled, they are beautiful attractions on their own.

The coup de grâce are the Helium Dove Balloons. Their unique shape and construction they give the appearance of real doves flapping their wings and circling in the air. Also, unlike other helium balloons that are toxic to the environment, these balloons take only between 10 days - 3 months to biodegrade and are RSPCA friendly.
