Celebrity Wedding Inspiration - Fergie & Josh
She shot to chart-topping fame as the “Chick from the Black Eyed Peas”, He secured Hunk status in the popular television show Las Vegas. Together they wed in a lavish, dreamy wedding that only mere mortal brides can wish for. Wish no more! You can have a Fergalicious wedding of your own without breaking the bank or joining a band and selling chart-topping albums. All you need is a bit of imagination, a team of willing helpers and Pink Frosting.
Their wedding stationery was simple and chic. Black and white, and sealed with a personal monogramed sticker in the same font that was used on their invite, Pink Frosting has similar style wedding stationery such as the Botanical Green or Cherry Blossom invitations. However I think that the closest match is with the Floral Orchestra invitations (available in a choice of fifteen colours!). You can go for the all-white, flowers everywhere look that Fergie and Josh had, or you can take pieces of her wedding and work it into your wedding. Their catholic ceremony was held in the Church Estates Vineyards in Malibu, California. The bridal party wore black gowns. Her ceremony was overflowing with magnolias and white roses, twined around an arch, at the entrance to the aisle stood white rose pomanders. At the altar, a low-set white draped stage with tall glass vases on either side, with bouquets of roses and magnolias bursting out from the top of the vases. Worked within the flowers on the arch, tea lights were suspended from white ribbon and clear crystal strands added that extra sparkle.
To draw upon some of Fergies’ ideas and taste, you can modify this to suit your ceremony. Flowers, fresh flowers are pricey – even more so if they are sourced from interstate. So, consider some of these options:
Use flowers that are available in the location of your wedding – the process of preparing flowers and transporting them interstate is not only expensive but risky – the condition of the flowers and how they handled the transportation may not be realised until it is too late to find an alternative. Or these days you can buy some pretty convincing artificial flowers – a bouquet you can keep forever! Or why not stand out and have a bouquet made of buttons and crystal embellishments. These two options can be quite cost effective too. Instead of covering the entire altar with flowers, decorate the area with the tall vases filled with water and a waterproof submersible tea light (in clear) and on top of the vase a ball of flowers. Use the pomanders and set them on a piece of dowel and wrap around it strands of crystals. Set the pomander with its crystal stem in a plant pot and use them at the entrance of the aisle. If you are considering an arch to wed under, then decorate it with pomanders and suspend glass tea light holders.
The wedding reception was an elaborate set up – a large ball room with swathes of dark fabric billowing from the ceiling and lined with rows of fairy lights, taking the appearance of a night sky. Crystal chandeliers glistened above rectangular tables that formed a “U , the dance floor in the centre of the room and up front the stage where a band performed and where Kid Rock and Slash got up and belted out a song or two for the wedded couple. Walls were covered with white fabric and illuminated by lights. The bridal table, facing the stage had a row of roses and magnolias along the front, the settings were simple and the place cards were cards at the head of each plate. The other tables were set with tall vases with bouquets of white flowers, and tea lights suspended on either side of the vase. Their first dance was to the Rolling Stones hit “Sweat hearts Together”. Their cake was in the shape of a castle, the like you imagine in fairy tales. As a party favour to their guests, a caricature of the newlyweds in wedding attire, sitting on the dock, Josh with a fishing rod in his hand (he is apparently a keen fisherman).
For your reception, you can set the tables with a tall vase with floral arrangements and standing around it diamond shape tea light holders. Or boxwood wreaths with a pearl and vintage gold wire tree table centrepiece. To brighten things up, set your centrepieces on round or square bevelled edged mirrors, the candle light will reflect from the mirrors and look amazing. Under the table cloth of the bridal table, string up fairy lights so the light is softened and gives warmth to the atmosphere. For your pace cards use the Floral Orchestra place cards which carry the theme from the wedding invitations.
