Twin Babies Brewing Baby Shower20050GN_jpg

Guest contributors: Brie Stanley and Karon Greenaway from Sugarcoated Events

There’s no mother-to-be more deserving of a beautiful baby shower than one expecting twins.  Ask your mother-to-be to put her tired feet up and shower her with an afternoon of love, laughter and sweet treats before the babies arrive and she’s rushed off her feet!

Colours

Start with a palette of traditional pastel blue and white for boys, or pink and white for girls.  Adding an accent of blushing pink roses will harmonise with either blue or pink and add a natural, fresh touch to your colour scheme.

Invitations

Set the tone of your event with special invitations.  Choose simple white card stock and baby blue or pastel pink ribbon.  Tie two clear mini dummies onto each ribbon in the centre of the invitation – your guests will be in no doubt that a baby shower is on the horizon.

Decorating and styling

Herald the party’s purpose with a letter banner in your colour palette.  Simply type “[Name’s] Baby Shower” and print off one letter per page.  Tape the letters to a large wall with double-sided tape, intersperse some cute baby images (dummies, ducks and rabbits) and accent with white and blue (or pink for girls) striped ribbon.  Hang a collection of pink or blue paper pom poms from the ceiling to add a hint of warmth and a party feel.

Spread a beautiful tablecloth in your colour theme and lay it with a lavish spread of afternoon tea treats.  Add a centrepiece of pastel pink roses in a low, round glass vase, and wrap it in blue or pink ribbon to emphasise your theme.  Your roses will look elegant beside vintage teacups, sparkling champagne flutes and personalised napkins.

Food

Serve a mouth-watering selection of treats such as finger sandwiches, mini tomato and bocconcini tartlets, smoked salmon and ricotta pancakes, caramel and chocolate tartlets as well as mini lemon meringues.  Take the time to add a handmade touch with cupcakes and cookies decorated with gorgeous bears, booties and ducklings.

Favours

Decorate white gift bags with ribbon, crepe paper, mini dummies and cardboard cut outs of baby prams and bibs.  Inside, nestle a little tea bag with a “Babies are brewing” personalised case and a personalised lip gloss.  Your guests will love it!

Baby shower games

Try some fun games to keep the afternoon full of light-hearted laughter!  Pop an ice cube (each with a little plastic baby frozen inside) into each guest’s drink.  The first person to find their baby floating to the surface (when the ice melts) must call “my water’s broken” to win a prize.  Other favourite games include baby trivia, or guess the date of birth and weight.  Present little prizes of baby-featured pens or personalised candles to the lucky winners.
