Planning For Your Kids Party

If you're planning a birthday party, make it easy on yourself with some careful planning. Planning a children's party can be one of the most fun and exciting adventures we can have as parents, but if you let the time get out of hand, it can become stressful. Here is the timeline to stick to for planning a party:

6 weeks before

Choose the theme, draw up the guest list, confirm the date with the important guests (such as grandparents), and book your venue.

4 weeks before

Organise invitations; decide on games, activities and food.

3 weeks before

Mail invitations, purchase party goods, make homemade decorations and favors, and arrange for extra help, if needed.

1 to 2 weeks before

Draw up a schedule of activities and call guests who have not yet responded.

2 days before

Buy food and any other perishable supplies you might need.

The day before

Bake the cake, decorate your home or be sure off-site supplies are confirmed and collected, and prepare those foods you can make ahead of time.

Day of the party

Prepare the party food.  Put the finishing touches on the decorations and relax as much as possible, because you are so well organised!
