Bridal Lingerie

Once you’ve found your dream wedding dress, there’s no time to rest on your laurels! You’ll need to purchase bridal lingerie before your first fitting.

Undergarments provide the foundation for your outerwear to look spectacular. They can change the way your dress fits, and can provide a little extra lift or smoothing to make you feel confident and beautiful.  Here’s what you’ll need to consider:

Supportive garments

Your bra is your leading piece of lingerie.  If your bra doesn’t give you support, your dress won’t look the way it should.  Shop for a supportive bra to keep you comfortable throughout the hours of dining, dancing and laughing with friends and family.

Of course, different dresses require different support.  If your dress is:

• Strapless or with spaghetti straps, then choose a bustier (seamless is best) to keep your torso smooth or a strapless bra
• Low cut back, then go for a backless bra that hooks at the waist
• Low-cut front, then select a push-up or demi-cup bra.

Body shapers

While grandma girdles have had their day, there are plenty of contemporary slimming garments that use Lycra or Spandex to achieve a smoother body line.

Panties

Choose knickers that provide comfort over sex appeal.  You don’t need the added hassle of having to hoist up your underpants every few minutes you’re on the dance floor!

Hosiery

Bare legs are great with strappy sandals, but will look out of place if you are wearing a diamond encrusted ball gown!  Choose good quality pantihose (or tights if you want to avoid holes in your toes).  Whatever you choose, make sure you purchase a few extra pairs to save yourself the drama when you tear a pair.

If you want to go for extra sexy with a garter belt, then make sure you give it a trial run.  The wrinkly-knee look is not good, and neither is having to hitch up your stockings all night.
