Alternative Ideas for Your Just Married Rice Toss

The rice toss is an important tradition that allows your wedding guests to shower you with love and excitement after your vows have been taken.  But, most venues won't allow rice now as it is damaging to the environment and can injur wildlife.  So, if you don't want to miss out on this fun photo opportunity here are some great alternative ideas for your just married rice toss:

Bubbles - Try giving every guest a little bottle of wedding bubbles or heart bubble wands and ask them to blow bubbles to you as you leave the ceremony.  The photos will be absolutely divine and the guests can relive their childhood bubble blowing moments!

Petals - Pretty petals, whether real, dried or silk petals, make a beautiful alternative idea to the rice toss.  Use a shade and flower petal that complements your own bouquet for the best effect.  You can present the petals to your guests in a pretty flower cone made out of a paper doily stuck together with double sided tape, or use a bomboniere box to match your favours with a little tag asking guests to toss their flowers over you as you leave the ceremony.

Sparklers - For evening and outdoor weddings, give your guests a sparkler each with a box of matches attached with a satin ribbon and ask your guests to sparkle away as your photographer snaps the brilliance.  Sparklers make such stunning photographs and frame you beautifully at night.  You can purchase sparklers at most supermarkets quite cheaply.

Birdseed - If you are having a garden wedding, you might like to consider the envrionmentally friendly alternative of bird seed.  Miniature packets of seeds wrapped with a personalised ribbon or tag can make a pretty wedding decoration and also help encourage the birdlife in your ceremony site in the future.
