Lace Wedding Ideas & Inspiration
Lace - its not just for Nana’s.......its actually very NOW, very CHIC, and very SOPHISTICATED. You only have to look at what Sarah Burton under Alexander McQueen did for “Our Kate” and her wedding dress.
Plus you can go as traditional or as modern as you like – everything from working the ‘lace’ graphic design into your invitations, through to the guest book available on the day for all to sign and write a personal message – there is a huge range of ideas and Pink Frosting has all the essential Wedding Decorations
But of course not everyone has the “crown jewels” to throw at it, and if you’re on a budget and feeling “artsy craftsy” – then you can easily buy lengths of lace online and have fun with your bridesmaids, coming up with different ideas of incorporating lace into your special day.
Here’s a couple of ideas to get you started..........
Accessories: lace parasols are an absolute must-have for the bride and bridesmaids for a vintage theme. Even if you're not using them during the ceremony, they make beautiful props and accessories for your photos. You could also try lace hand fans instead of flowers for the bridesmaids and lace flower girl baskets for the flowergirls.
Centrepiece “candle wrap” or “vase wrap”: simply buy loads of pillar candles of different heights and wrap lace around them....or print out your “lace design” on transparent A3 paper (or get your local digital print shop to do it), and wrap the glass vase for a soft and elegant lace look. Team with small votive glass tealights to finish the look.
The place-setting: simply tying the napkins with a length of lace wrapped around the napkin - or for each place-setting, use a paper lace doily and have the names written in calligraphy; then to give it a bit of extra ‘weight and substance’, on top of the doily place a clear round piece of perspex, so its more like a ‘showplate’. “Where do I get Perspex from” I hear you ask? Well, these days you’ll be surprised at what a quick google search can bring up in your local business area.
The favours: everyone loves a ‘gift’ at their setting, and the die-cut lace favour boxes follow the same vein of lace, and are perfect for that little something, whether it be filled with chocolates or the traditional wedding almonds. Pink Frosting has loads of options for the favour or bomboniere
Its the little things: another simple way to tie in with the lace look is with the table numbers. Most venues only have the standard boring black & white plastic numbers, so why not add a touch of class with these white paper-cut detail numbers.
And something as a bit of a keepsake for you guys (and looks good in the photos) is the pen set and holder, for when you’re ‘signing on the dotted line’ to make it official.
The Thank you: for me one of the most important elements of the wedding is the ‘Thank-yous’ - and especially to your bridesmaids and nearest & dearest – maybe your Nana has made the bridal cake like mine did for our wedding? A nice touch is to also give those special thanks out on the day, and before you walk down the aisle. With your handwritten card, slip in a gorgeous lace or crochet handkerchief – and for something extra special , have it monogrammed with their initials. The perfect little token of your appreciation - and hey, it might just come in handy during the ceremony when the tears of joy start flowing too!
Something fun: Now if you’re the bridesmaid reading this, then here’s another way to help your “bestie” let the world know she’s married, as well as working in her chosen lace theme. Tie up bunting with the “just marriage” message at the front of their house or apartment for on their return from their honey-moon – hey why not tell the neighbours!!
