Ideas for Hosting a Las Vegas Themed Wedding or Party

No place on earth can have a bigger electricity bill than Las Vegas!!!!! An amazing beacon of colourful lights that light up the middle of a desert!  People say how stunning the view is as you fly in over Vegas at night! What a wild and wonderful place! I always think if you are a person who drives eagerly around at Christmas looking at streets and houses adorned with Christmas lights, then you would love to experience this stunning, larger than life, city of bling!   more »

Mermaid Party Ideas

For an upcoming girls 6th birthday party why not take a journey down into Atlantis where the mermaids live and let your little girl and her friends be mythical mermaids for a day? Australia’s #1 Party Shop can help you make a Splash with their range of Mermaid inspired birthday products. From mermaid invitations, or make your own using Pink Frosting’s Martha Stewart craft collection. When I think of mermaids I think of sparkles – lots of glitter and underwater treasures. Create an underwater Mermaid Cove decorated with blue and green streamers hanging down. Fill a treasure chest piñata with sweets and trinkets (a pirate treasure map or two and some princess trinkets) for the mermaids to watch over.   more »

A Magic Party!

Okay so turning forty-five can seem pretty daunting. You are now five years off the big five-oh. If you are planning your party or are planning a party for the approaching forty-five year old have some fun with a magic theme. Everyone knows that magic comes down to smoke and mirrors, sleight of hand and sparks. To dazzle and amaze which is what you will do with this party and also turn back the hands of time – forty five? Who’s forty-five? (Wink wink!).   more »

Beatrix Potter 2nd Birthday Party Ideas

Looking through the great range of party themes on the Pink Frosting website I was excited to see one of my own childhood favourites now in stock ready for parents to snap up for their little ones’ birthday party. What am I talking about? When I was little, a wonderful and imaginative author, illustrator and conservationist by the name of Beatrix Potter was introduced to me by my mum. The stories of Peter Rabbit and his siblings Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Tom Kitten, Squirrel Nutkin, Mrs Tiggy Winkle, Samuel Whiskers and my own close to the heart forever favourite The Tailor of Gloucester.   more »

Rainbow Party Ideas

Have you ever found yourself wondering where the Rainbow ends, and what would you find if you could reach it? As a kid I would get excited whenever I saw a rainbow and I would wonder where it ended and if there truly was a pot of gold or something more. I loved the children’s cartoon Rainbow Brite, and yes I have a Rainbow Brite t-shirt that I still wear despite being a 30 year old woman. What is not to love about Rainbows? Bright, pretty and a perfect theme for a twelve year old girl’s birthday party!   more »

Ladybird Party Ideas

The first birthday is a pretty big deal. Over 12 months you have watched your little one grow from little snuggly baby to a chunky, snuggly toddler who is now talking, walking and sending you grey before your time. You want to throw a birthday party for them, invite their little friends and their parents and let the kids have a good time. Obviously at the age of 1, they are settling into solids, can socialise to a point with other children but not actually play the way older kids do. I believe at this age it is called parallel play. But don’t let that put you off from having a party for you little treasure. First birthday parties are so much fun to organise!   more »

Jungle Party Ideas

Is that jungle drums I can hear? Some days when Tilly and Mish are in a mood I can’t help but think I have stumbled upon a jungle with roaring lions, stampeding elephants and cheeky monkeys. There is never a dull moment when you have children, as you run around after your little animals, leaping through the jungle, catching your monkey mid leap, your elephant mid stomp and lion mid roar. A jungle theme party for a first birthday is perfect for your wild one. Indoors or outdoors, you can make it fun, wild and noisy. Stick with jungle colours of green, yellow and brown along with Pink Frosting’s range of Jungle Party and Cheeky Monkey decorations.   more »

Japanese Spa Day Party Theme for Kids

Japanese Day Spa Party – one for the little ladies! Treat your daughter and her ‘besties’ to a day spa party with a Japanese twist.  OK – I can’t take the credit for this one – but I do know the lucky girl who has the best mum in the world for creating this unique and very well received party theme (it's the talk of the school playground !).   more »

98, 99, 100 - 100th Birthday Party Ideas

I want to live to be a century. According the pros who are living that dream, their advice has been “eat your veggies”, “don’t eat veggies”, “drink beer/whisky/rum/milk”, “smoke”, “don’t smoke”, “live in the country”, “don’t watch the news”, “get out and exercise”, “don’t exercise”, “have nookie everyday”…oh no, wait!   more »

My Sweet 16

To quote an LOL Cat “What has been seen, cannot be unseen”. I have been watching the MTV show My Super Sweet 16 and Sweet 16 World Class and my eyes are as big as dinner plates. I had no idea your 16th was such a big deal. The young and more money than sense stamp their pedicured feet and pout their way through the planning of the ultimate 16th birthday party to rival the last 16th birthday party.   more »

Vegas 21st Parties

I am not sure what is worse, having your birthday referred to as a milestone or a landmark birthday. Gives me the impression that at school you used to write on slate boards and your books were carried tied up in a piece of string. Where did this come from? In all the glossy magazines there are always photos of the young and careless celebrities partying it up at TAO   more »

We Like to Par-tay!

Everyone loves a party and no one can party harder or longer than a kid right? One of the things we have found since popping out our two off spring is the decline in dinner parties. At the time we started to have babies our friends were still sorting out engagement parties and wedding venues. We were the only ones with a baby and as such found the invites to dinners were few and far between. That was okay, we understood.   more »

I am not 50! I am 25 Times 2!

The strangest thing happened to me the other day. Whilst doing the dishes I get a phone call from Cher! (Of course I didn’t really get a call from Cher, my phone number is on the do not call register). Anyway, she had heard that I was busy starting to plan for another A-List celebrity 50th birthday party and wanted me to plan her big 5-0 too.   more »
