Ideas for Hosting a Las Vegas Themed Wedding or Party

No place on earth can have a bigger electricity bill than Las Vegas!!!!! An amazing beacon of colourful lights that light up the middle of a desert!  People say how stunning the view is as you fly in over Vegas at night! What a wild and wonderful place! I always think if you are a person who drives eagerly around at Christmas looking at streets and houses adorned with Christmas lights, then you would love to experience this stunning, larger than life, city of bling!   more »

Mermaid Party Ideas

For an upcoming girls 6th birthday party why not take a journey down into Atlantis where the mermaids live and let your little girl and her friends be mythical mermaids for a day? Australia’s #1 Party Shop can help you make a Splash with their range of Mermaid inspired birthday products. From mermaid invitations, or make your own using Pink Frosting’s Martha Stewart craft collection. When I think of mermaids I think of sparkles – lots of glitter and underwater treasures. Create an underwater Mermaid Cove decorated with blue and green streamers hanging down. Fill a treasure chest piñata with sweets and trinkets (a pirate treasure map or two and some princess trinkets) for the mermaids to watch over.   more »

Bollywood Nights - Indian Themed Party Ideas

When Mike and I were dating one of our favourite restaurants’ was this quirky and fun Bollywood themed restaurant. The food was fantastic, the staff was welcoming and warm, the women swathed in bright, pretty saris. The whole place was filled with vivid colours, bright gems and crystals. Fabric was draped off the walls and ceiling and the best bit was the large screen on which they played Bollywood movies. So we could dine, talk and enjoy their movies (and they are pretty cool!).   more »

Okay so turning forty-five can seem pretty daunting. You are now five years off the big five-oh. If you are planning your party or are planning a party for the approaching forty-five year old have some fun with a magic theme. Beatrix Potter 2nd Birthday Party Ideas

Looking through the great range of party themes on the Pink Frosting website I was excited to see one of my own childhood favourites now in stock ready for parents to snap up for their little ones’ birthday party. What am I talking about? When I was little, a wonderful and imaginative author, illustrator and conservationist by the name of Beatrix Potter was introduced to me by my mum. The stories of Peter Rabbit and his siblings Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Tom Kitten, Squirrel Nutkin, Mrs Tiggy Winkle, Samuel Whiskers and my own close to the heart forever favourite The Tailor of Gloucester.   more »

Japanese 25th Birthday Party Ideas

How great is Japanese food? I love it! I am a huge fan of sushi, even more so now I can make it up at home. A few years ago I had the pleasure of stopping by Japan on my way over to Canada and loved the place. Hubby and I really want to take the kids there one day. I think I bought more souvenirs from Japan in the two days I was there than I did in the month I spent in Canada! Their food is so tasty and healthy and sushi night at the Jarvis house is so much fun. So here is an idea for a 25th birthday plan; why not hold a Japanese inspired pre-party dinner? Invite some friends round to enjoy Japanese food and drink before heading out to party the night away.   more »

Cooking Birthday Party Ideas

So you have a party to plan and host for a soon to be seven year old and are wondering what you can do to keep the kids fed, happy and entertained? I have an idea that will require a bit of prep work, but totally worth it in the end. Inspired by cooking shows that are on at the moment – My Kitchen Rules on Channel 7 and Master Chef on the Lifestyle Food channels, why not host a birthday party where the kids can help prepare the party menu? Like I said, prep work will be required in doing most of the cutting, and plating up the range of ingredients. You could make the whole menu one for the kids to cook, or select one or two things for them to whip up.   more »

Rainbow Party Ideas

Have you ever found yourself wondering where the Rainbow ends, and what would you find if you could reach it? As a kid I would get excited whenever I saw a rainbow and I would wonder where it ended and if there truly was a pot of gold or something more. I loved the children’s cartoon Rainbow Brite, and yes I have a Rainbow Brite t-shirt that I still wear despite being a 30 year old woman. What is not to love about Rainbows? Bright, pretty and a perfect theme for a twelve year old girl’s birthday party!   more »

Ladybird Party Ideas

The first birthday is a pretty big deal. Over 12 months you have watched your little one grow from little snuggly baby to a chunky, snuggly toddler who is now talking, walking and sending you grey before your time. You want to throw a birthday party for them, invite their little friends and their parents and let the kids have a good time. Obviously at the age of 1, they are settling into solids, can socialise to a point with other children but not actually play the way older kids do. I believe at this age it is called parallel play. But don’t let that put you off from having a party for you little treasure. First birthday parties are so much fun to organise!   more »

Jungle Party Ideas

Is that jungle drums I can hear? Some days when Tilly and Mish are in a mood I can’t help but think I have stumbled upon a jungle with roaring lions, stampeding elephants and cheeky monkeys. There is never a dull moment when you have children, as you run around after your little animals, leaping through the jungle, catching your monkey mid leap, your elephant mid stomp and lion mid roar. A jungle theme party for a first birthday is perfect for your wild one. Indoors or outdoors, you can make it fun, wild and noisy. Stick with jungle colours of green, yellow and brown along with Pink Frosting’s range of Jungle Party and Cheeky Monkey decorations.   more »

Japanese Spa Day Party Theme for Kids

Japanese Day Spa Party – one for the little ladies! Treat your daughter and her ‘besties’ to a day spa party with a Japanese twist.  OK – I can’t take the credit for this one – but I do know the lucky girl who has the best mum in the world for creating this unique and very well received party theme (it's the talk of the school playground !).   more »

98, 99, 100 - 100th Birthday Party Ideas

I want to live to be a century. According the pros who are living that dream, their advice has been “eat your veggies”, “don’t eat veggies”, “drink beer/whisky/rum/milk”, “smoke”, “don’t smoke”, “live in the country”, “don’t watch the news”, “get out and exercise”, “don’t exercise”, “have nookie everyday”…oh no, wait!   more »
