Peter Pan & the Pirates Party Ideas
Make the party food bright and colourful, but call it “Invisible Food” like in the movie Hook with Robin Williams. The Lost Boys sit down to what looks like an empty table and using their imagination come up with the most amazing and fun food which they then turn into a food fight. Set the table with this fantastic Pirate Ship centre piece and on each end of the table the Jolly Roger decorations. more »

Ideas for Hosting a High Tea Party
If you find yourself organising a kitchen tea or bridal shower, in most cases it would be for your best friend. I found myself in this very position a few years back (Gill's best friend happens to be Pink Frosting founder, Kathryn Porritt)! I have to admit, up until then I had never been to a kitchen tea and so had no idea what they were or if there were certain rules to follow! Looking back on the whole experience, the best tip I can give you is to follow your heart! I know this sounds a bit corny, but you are the one who knows your friend inside out and therefore your inspiration comes from their favourite things. more »

Ideas for Hosting a Las Vegas Themed Wedding or Party
No place on earth can have a bigger electricity bill than Las Vegas!!!!! An amazing beacon of colourful lights that light up the middle of a desert! People say how stunning the view is as you fly in over Vegas at night! What a wild and wonderful place! I always think if you are a person who drives eagerly around at Christmas looking at streets and houses adorned with Christmas lights, then you would love to experience this stunning, larger than life, city of bling! more »

Mermaid Party Ideas
For an upcoming girls 6th birthday party why not take a journey down into Atlantis where the mermaids live and let your little girl and her friends be mythical mermaids for a day? Australia’s #1 Party Shop can help you make a Splash with their range of Mermaid inspired birthday products. From mermaid invitations, or make your own using Pink Frosting’s Martha Stewart craft collection. When I think of mermaids I think of sparkles – lots of glitter and underwater treasures. Create an underwater Mermaid Cove decorated with blue and green streamers hanging down. Fill a treasure chest piñata with sweets and trinkets (a pirate treasure map or two and some princess trinkets) for the mermaids to watch over. more »

Bollywood Nights - Indian Themed Party Ideas
When Mike and I were dating one of our favourite restaurants’ was this quirky and fun Bollywood themed restaurant. The food was fantastic, the staff was welcoming and warm, the women swathed in bright, pretty saris. The whole place was filled with vivid colours, bright gems and crystals. Fabric was draped off the walls and ceiling and the best bit was the large screen on which they played Bollywood movies. So we could dine, talk and enjoy their movies (and they are pretty cool!). more »

Mystical Winter Wonderland Party Ideas
As a child one of my many favourite collections of stories came from the imagination of C.S. Lewis and his Chronicles of Narnia. A place filled with strange and wonderful creatures and a battle waged between a great and wise lion named Aslan and an evil White Witch who sought to control Narnia and all who lived there. The first book called The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe starts the adventure of four children, siblings Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy who are sent off with all the other children to live out the Second World War in the relative safety of the country side. They end up at a country manor owned by a Professor Kirke. more »

Beatrix Potter 2nd Birthday Party Ideas
Looking through the great range of party themes on the Pink Frosting website I was excited to see one of my own childhood favourites now in stock ready for parents to snap up for their little ones’ birthday party. What am I talking about? When I was little, a wonderful and imaginative author, illustrator and conservationist by the name of Beatrix Potter was introduced to me by my mum. The stories of Peter Rabbit and his siblings Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Tom Kitten, Squirrel Nutkin, Mrs Tiggy Winkle, Samuel Whiskers and my own close to the heart forever favourite The Tailor of Gloucester. more »

Japanese 25th Birthday Party Ideas
How great is Japanese food? I love it! I am a huge fan of sushi, even more so now I can make it up at home. A few years ago I had the pleasure of stopping by Japan on my way over to Canada and loved the place. Hubby and I really want to take the kids there one day. I think I bought more souvenirs from Japan in the two days I was there than I did in the month I spent in Canada! Their food is so tasty and healthy and sushi night at the Jarvis house is so much fun. So here is an idea for a 25th birthday plan; why not hold a Japanese inspired pre-party dinner? Invite some friends round to enjoy Japanese food and drink before heading out to party the night away. more »

Cooking Birthday Party Ideas
So you have a party to plan and host for a soon to be seven year old and are wondering what you can do to keep the kids fed, happy and entertained? I have an idea that will require a bit of prep work, but totally worth it in the end. Inspired by cooking shows that are on at the moment – My Kitchen Rules on Channel 7 and Master Chef on the Lifestyle Food channels, why not host a birthday party where the kids can help prepare the party menu? Like I said, prep work will be required in doing most of the cutting, and plating up the range of ingredients. You could make the whole menu one for the kids to cook, or select one or two things for them to whip up. more »

Day Spa Home Spa Party Ideas
There are mixed emotions when it comes to giving a woman a trip to the day spa for a facial for her birthday. Some (like me) would be eternally grateful that my husband was going to be locked in the house with our two kids whilst I indulged in a facial and pedicure. Other women look at it like the person giving them the gift is implying that their looks are getting the better of them. Each to their own I guess, but at the heart of it all we all love a good pamper. I have even considered a beauty course because it can be so much fun. But for me I love home-made beauty treatments. Yep! Domestic Goddess Home Day Spa. more »

Cruise Ship 60th Birthday Party Ideas
When I think of 60 year olds, I think of cruises. Watching the travel channel’s program on cruise ships, I couldn’t help but notice that there were heaps of retirees on board, soaking up the sun on the decks and they all look like super relaxed cats – you know what cats look like after getting into catnip? Well that is what these people on this cruise looked like and I thought that would be so nice. When I am 60, I may very well hop on board a cruise ship too! Then I thought, what about those turning 60 who are not too keen on or can’t go on a cruise? Instead of cruising the seven seas and fattening up of cruise ship food why not hold a Cruise Ship themed 60th birthday party? Who’s on board for this? more »

Rainbow Party Ideas
Have you ever found yourself wondering where the Rainbow ends, and what would you find if you could reach it? As a kid I would get excited whenever I saw a rainbow and I would wonder where it ended and if there truly was a pot of gold or something more. I loved the children’s cartoon Rainbow Brite, and yes I have a Rainbow Brite t-shirt that I still wear despite being a 30 year old woman. What is not to love about Rainbows? Bright, pretty and a perfect theme for a twelve year old girl’s birthday party! more »

Weird Science Party Ideas
When it comes to planning kids parties, some of the best ideas come from movies. Take the film Flubber for example. A story about a scientist who creates this incredible green goop that bounces about and sets off a wild goose chase. What a great idea for a ten year olds birthday party? A science theme party where instead of playing pin the tail on the donkey or pass the parcel, they can make their own experiments and learn weird and wonderful things. I’m talking about bubbling volcanos, make your own flubber, jumping coins and kid-friendly lava lamps. The kids will love to sit and try their hand at being mad scientists and the looks on their faces when they make something jump, bubble, burp and stretch will be priceless. A quick search on line can bring up plenty of easy, kid safe science experiments that can be made from items in your own home. more »
