Wedding Chic: Ruffles on your Wedding Day

brideruffledress.jpg

My mum loved to dress me up in pretty little dresses with cute ruffles and bows on them. Then I turned 2 and opted for overalls over mum's dresses. The thought of being all girly did not appeal to me at all. I am now blessed with a beautiful little girl who just loves to wear dresses - the more tulle the better to her, and she rocks the frocks with a tom boy swagger! So over the past five years I have gotten in touch with my feminine side.

Now when I think of ruffles, I immediately think of My Big Fat Gypsy Weddings - a show my daughter and I love to watch. Big bows, frills, lace, diamontes and RUFFLES! These young women embrace and go all out for the fairytale wedding style and with each wedding the dress, ceremony and reception is bigger.  But when I was posed the topic of ruffles by Pink Frosting, I jumped on board, determined to search beyond the gypsy wedding and flower girl dresses and so I began looking more into the fashion and was pleased to discover that ruffles are in vogue! True!

This Spring/Summer ruffles are the trend. Soft, feminine, romantic and whimsical they flatter your shape and look oh so pretty. As ceremony/venue decoration ruffles are a statement opulence, Parisian  chic. You can opt for an understated wedding gown with ruffle detailing such as Khloe Kardashian's wedding dress - and didn't she look just stunning? Or take it to the other end like Carrie Bradshaw's Vivienne Westwood masterpiece (as a tomboy even I would have leaped at that dress for my wedding!) in the Sex and the City movie. Not sure about the bird head piece though...Anyway, my point is ruffles, although to some may appear intimidating are not just for the flower girls anymore, and they add a touch of the romantic and fairytale princess to your wedding day.

If you are going for the ruffles on your dress, simple understated hair and veils are the way to go. A few favourites of mine are the woven rhinestone and white pearl headband (for the princess at heart!), the silver coloured jewelled hair comb with pearls. Or there are the beautiful range of veils - love the bird cage style veil (for a more tame Carrie Bradshaw!)  There are so many themes that you can carry off with the ruffle look, and all of course are on the Pink Frosting website (www.pinkfrosting.com.au). I would recommend:

Romance Wedding Theme:

Fairytale Wedding Theme:

Ivory Romance Wedding Theme:

Opulent Gold and Crystal Theme:

Vintage Wedding Theme:

For the wedding ceremony you could decorate with:

Or to make it really easy Pink Frosting also have a Choose Your Wedding Colours Wedding Ceremony Package.

So now I am a convert to the ruffle and I hope that I have given you something to consider and hopefully have also converted brides to be to try the look either with their gowns or venue decorations. But the most important thing is to just go and have fun with it! Ruffle your feathers, go on I dare you!
