Warnie & Liz Hurley Engaged!

Everywhere I look I am being blinded by the flash of new engagement rings. There is much excitement and merriment with family and friends all recently announcing their engagements. It is wonderful I mean who doesn’t love an engagement and the wedding that follows right? Some proposals have been a complete surprise and others we have had a feeling that something was about to happen. But overall next year is going to be a busy year for my family and friends with weddings to plan and attend.

Another wedding that will be on the horizon is that of Shane Warne and Elizabeth Hurley. As he nurses his sore left knee (a casualty of what must have been a lengthy proposal) and slathers on more of Liz’s beauty creams in an attempt to make his face tighter than it already is, and Liz embarks on that infamous watercress soup diet so she can fit into another wedding dress, Shane’s family here in Oz were reportedly left in the dark about the proposal. Whilst Shane and Liz were confirming the news via tweets, his own dad was saying he had heard of and knew nothing about his son popping the question to Liz! Maybe you have to be a part of Twitter? Maybe Shane and Liz’s endless tweets put his family off from Twitter? I have to admit whilst reading up on this romance, some of the Twitter exchanges had me feeling like I had just walked in on my parents making whoopee. A fair bit of innuendo and sexual tension going on. One tweet Liz professed her pet bird’s love of Shane. There were cavemen comments, dragging women by their hair, a dog that had run into a window, screaming on a rollercoaster and Liz even asked for a picture of her man in a pair of undies. I’m guessing she has not watched or read the news in years. Some tweets were quite sweet (teehee – a rhyme!) with genuine caring words for each other, their children and the dog that ran into the window.

So how has Liz managed to tame this man? Infamous for his use of mobile phones, the term unlimited text is like a red flag to a bull to him as he loves to text the ladies (and was caught out with another woman in the early stage of his relationship with Liz!) I know how she feels, I mean my husband after a beer or two will text my parents to tell them how much he loves their daughter. Whatever she has done, it seems to have worked and she is now sporting a $50,000 sapphire and diamond sparkler on her ring finger. I had read the reports he had proposed in front of 200 hundred people – James Packer was there, but yesterday it was cleared up by their representative – Twitter that Shane popped the question privately – which is sweet. He asked for her hand in marriage and with the other was busy tweeting the updates. Her one big love Hugh Grant, after 13 years together “popped the question” to a prostitute which left poor Liz heart broken and humiliated. Everyone deserves to be happy and to be loved and obviously they are a good match. There is something there that makes them work and that is really lovely.

So now they can set about planning their wedding day. I do hope that Liz’s son Damien gets to wear something a little more normal – that poor kid wearing the Little Lord Fauntleroy outfit was not right. I reckon they will have a small, intimate ceremony of their closest 200 family and friends. The invitations will be tweeted, so Shane’s family better set up their accounts now and they can deactivate them when the happy couple embark on their honeymoon! Actually I think a lot of people will want to avoid Twitter for the duration of that honeymoon. Just like walking in on your parents – too much info! But for now, I wish them nothing but the best. They have had their trials and tribulations. Hopefully this works out right for them. Either way, we will all be kept up to date with twitter feeds!
