Ten Pin Bowling Party Ideas

Bowling alleys are the perfect place to have birthday parties for kids of all ages. The fun atmosphere makes any birthday special. Here are some fun ideas you can incorporate to make your bowling party wonderful.

Research the Venue and Activities

When you research venues for your bowling party, choose one with plenty of activities to do. You may want to find one with an arcade or specialty nights such as Cosmic Bowling that make the fun of a bowling party that much more fun. Plan far in advance in case there is an upfront fee or reservations fill quickly at the bowling alley for lanes or party rooms.

Once you have decided which venue you will use for your party, plan activities for the guests. Ask the management at the bowling alley if they have party packages and consider purchasing one. Party packages can take the guesswork out of planning a bowling themed party, as the bowling alley might supply the cake, party favours and activities. If they do carry party packages, look at the options available for games before bringing your own. If the venue does not carry packages for large parties, plan your own activities and supplies. Many websites like Pink Frosting can help you find party supplies for your bowling themed birthday party.

Bowling-Themed Party Favours and Invitations

The next step in making your bowling themed party a success is sending out invitations. Consider using a template to design invitations in the shape of bowling balls and pins. If you don't have time to make your own - the fun ten pin bowling party invitations to fill in at Pink Frosting are just the ticket.

A fun party favour your guests will enjoy is making league-style bowling shirts. You can customise these ahead of time through choosing nicknames for guests that have responded to the invite and placing them on the shirts, or have guests create their own shirts using fabric paint.

In between turns to bowl, your guests can have fun drawing on their shirts or signing each other’s. This is a fun, interactive activity with little mess. If the children are younger, ask for parents to help supervise them as they decorate. Also make sure the management at your venue knows you plan to do this activity.

A more traditional party favour can include a snack table. Set out goody bags and let your guests fill them with treats of their choice set out on the table. They can snack on the treats while they bowl or take them home to enjoy later. This can reduce costs if you do not plan to serve a meal, or setting out candy and treats can accompany your meal, such as pizza you have delivered to the bowling alley.

Bowling Party Cake

If you are lucky enough to have a bowling alley with party packages, you may not have to worry about the cake design or decoration. They may ask you to fill out a form with colours and the name of the birthday kid on the cake and will bring out the cake at a specified time during your party.

Not every venue has party packages, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy cake at your party! When you set out planning what cake you want, you can go the traditional route and get a regular rectangular cake with pins and a bowling ball on it at a grocery store or can make it yourself. Or you can be adventurous and ask your local bakery to create a cake in the shape of a bowling ball or bowling. It is likely they can make it in any colour you desire, so be imaginative with the customised cake!
