Start Your Engines Racing Cars Party Ideas

carracingcake.jpg

Little boys love cars. They are only too happy to tell you all about Roary the Racing Car and Lightening McQueen and his buddy Mater (as in “Tow Mater”). When my brother James was four years old he would go everywhere with a collection of matchbox cars stuffed in his pants pockets – so many that he could not walk or sit down properly. In his little hands he would hold the two favourite cars for that day. Our cousin Brendan had an even bigger car collection and when they were together all you could hear were two four year old boys making car sounds as they raced their best cars around the floor of the bedroom. It must be something that is ingrained in boys – the attraction to wheels, engines and loud revs. The faster they go, the cooler it is and Disney Pixar got it when they made the movie Cars and Cars 2. Even I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised how cool Cars was when we saw it at the movies (we had no kids at that stage).

If you have a little guy about to turn four, why not wave the chequered flag and throw him a fantastic race car birthday party bound to get engines revving with squeals of excitement from him and his buddies. You can use the range of Disney Pixar Cars party products available from Pink Frosting, or get creative and with products from Australia’s #1 Party Shop make a Pit Stop Party. Create invitations that look like VIP passes to the Piston Cup with a lanyard. All you need is card, ribbon, stickers and laminate – easy! Make it a costume party and dress up the birthday star as a race car driver.

Black and white streamers with black and white napkins to represent the chequered race flags, a black table cloth painted with white stripes to look like a stretch of road along the table. Red cups, yellow plates and green napkins for the “Stop, Wait and Go” signals will be the pop of colour on your race car themed party. Over the party food table hang up a “Pit Stop” sign and over where the party guests will be sitting, a sign that reads “Pit Crew”.

A new range of cake decorations are available now at Pink Frosting. You can make a 3D car cake or make up a slab cake and using the icing and colouring products decorate the cake to look like a race track and use the race car candles. Easy! Along with party standard fare of sausage rolls, party pies, mini meatballs, chips, dips and lollies, serve up speedy spaghetti, Grand Prix Nachos. Car cookies iced up all colourful to look like race cars ready to speed off the table and onto the plates of the hungry party guests. The drinks area can be called the refuelling spot where they can run up and fill up their tanks before zooming off to continue the party games.

Include extra touches like party poppers, balloons and whistles (kids LOVE whistles). If you have a scaletrix race track set it up and let the kids race cars. If you are having the party at home, then you could set up a mini home theatre and let them rest after their games by watching Cars or Roary the Racing Car (this will also buy the grown-ups some time to sit and rest too!) Pink Frosting can be your Pit Crew and help you set up your Grand Prix party for your little boy with heaps of products from theme decorations to food decorations available.
