Rainbow Party Ideas

Have you ever found yourself wondering where the Rainbow ends, and what would you find if you could reach it? As a kid I would get excited whenever I saw a rainbow and I would wonder where it ended and if there truly was a pot of gold or something more. I loved the children’s cartoon Rainbow Brite, and yes I have a Rainbow Brite t-shirt that I still wear despite being a 30 year old woman. What is not to love about Rainbows? Bright, pretty and a perfect theme for a twelve year old girl’s birthday party!

Pink Frosting knows what is at the end of the rainbow – their shop! Seriously they have everything Rainbow Brite could wish for. The hardest part would be narrowing down your selection. Personally I would style the party with the following items:

Make your own invitations using coloured card and decorative paper punches, glitter and stickers from the Martha Stewart range in stock.

Indoors or outdoors, set up some Rainbow Sprays party balloons tied to balloon weights with bright balloon string. Hang up paper lanterns and pom poms in pink, white, blue, yellow, green, purple, orange. On white table cloths, attached coloured streamers to the front and  have coloured pails with vintage paper bouquets, mini pails filled with gold coins, crystal scatters and glitter on the table and rainbow swirl lollipops and rainbow rock candy in a monogramed vase (which the birthday girl can keep in her room with a bunch of vintage paper flowers). As each guest arrives have them select a ribbon wand which they can also take home with them. Make a birthday Daisy birthday cake and decorate with white ready to use frosting and sprinkle red, blue, green, purple and pink edible glitter and display it on a silver cake board with gold edible stars scattered around it.

If you can, why not make the sweets bar look like a candy shop front? Set up a tray of popcorn and fairy floss along with gumball machines and jars of smarties, jelly beans, popping candy and chocolate freckles and cute candy necklaces for the guests to mix into their cups of rainbow swirl ice cream, coloured coconut macaroons and tutti-fruiti jelly cups. Sweets aside, have some savoury dishes such as fried rice, stir fry noodles in little noodle boxes, creamy potato salad, stuffed baked potatoes, mini Hawaiian pizzas, nachos, vegetable, crackers and dip platter. Cold drinks try home-made lemonade, mixed berry smoothies and fruit punch. Have a stand set up with the thank you gifts for your guests to take as they leave – little organza bags in various colours filled with jelly beans and a rainbow spray balloon and party popper.

The girls will love all the colour and glitter and if it is an outdoor party, set up picnic blankets for them to sit down at and enjoy their food, games and gossip. Have a bubble machine set up and as they float in the sunlight, cast little rainbows of their own. All you have to do is pick the music, party games and when and where the party will be held. Pink Frosting, Australia’s #1 Party Shop can take care of all of the decorations for you making the whole process easy, fun, memorable and looking like the guests have finally found what the end of the rainbow looks like.
