Making Your Wedding Day Personal

kimkardashianswedding1.jpg

I will straight up admit that I have become a fan of the Kardashians. Their show has become a guilty pleasure for me and when Pink Frosting posed the topic of personalising your wedding – invitations, decorations, gifts, of course the recent nuptials of Kim and Kris sprang to mind. Obviously theirs was an opulent extravaganza and money was not an issue, you cannot help but admire the amount of detail that went into their wedding. Their names were on everything, menus, dinnerware, glassware (maybe with so many people attending there were bound to be the odd celeb who didn’t know who’s wedding they were at – so that’s a good idea should you be inviting celebrities to your wedding). The black and white theme dripped from the ceiling and walls – even the guests wore black and white. The wedding favours for their 400-odd guests were incredibly lavish (well to me they made my bride and groom cookies pale in comparison). Each gift bag contained Kim and Kris wedding flip flops, a bottle of the Kim K perfume (designed for the wedding), a pashmina, engraved pens and a lovely photo of the happy newlywed couple plus much more.

I was surprised though when I read that guests had left most of the wedding favours behind. If it were me I would have been only too happy to accept the bag of goodies (just a heads up for the next Kardashian wedding okay). I can say that my Bride and Groom cookies were all taken by the end of the night – I caught my uncle sneaking out at the end of the reception with a bundle of them in his arms! They were really yummy cookies – my mum made them!

Anyway, when it comes to your wedding you want to make it stand out, make it memorable, make it all about the happy couple. It starts with the theme, the colours, the invitation. At the venue you can tailor the decorations, the cake, the flowers, the favours – it’s all about you baby! You can have as much or as little as you like and you can find what you  need and still stay within budget.

Australia's #1 online wedding shop Pink Frosting have lots of amazing ideas and wedding decorations available to suit all styles and budgets. Right now I am crushing on the range of Martha Stewart paper decorations - those paper pom poms are adorable!

For my wedding my mum and I made the invitations (thanks mum for all those beautiful ribbon roses), we had the Bride and Groom cookies (thanks mum!) and our cake was a white chocolate mud cake decorated with the wedding flowers (thanks dad for making the cake and mum decorating it). My wedding was an intimate little gathering of 60 in Bowral. A winter theme with warm and rustic colours, we chose to keep it simple and romantic. Looking at the magazines covering Kim’s wedding. Her day was also beautiful. Every wedding is special, individual and unforgettable. Hmmmm…Looking at all these decorations and ideas makes me think maybe a renewal of our wedding vows is in order…
