Kitchen Themed Kitchen Tea Ideas

27046.jpg

Could there be a better theme for a kitchen tea than the kitchen itself?  Kitchen teas are such a fun Aussie party where the bride’s female family members and friends get together to celebrate for the bride before her wedding day by presenting kitchen or home themed gifts.  Kitchen teas are often interchanged with the term bridal shower in Australia, but many of our brides host both – usually the shower for friends close in age to the bride herself and a kitchen tea for older family friends and relatives who like a more traditional party for the bride.

Invitations

Invite guests to your kitchen tea with a pretty tea or kitchen themed invitation.  One that we particularly love are the Miss Tea Party invitations featuring a pretty 50's style tea party hostess in pink - perfect for a kitchen tea celebration!  If your budget allows, you could send a fun Whisked Away heart whisk or a wooden spoon attached to your invitations.  This stylish invitation will certainly get your guests excited!

Decorations and Styling

For your venue, it's best to find the most wonderful kitchen space you can!  Think about your friends and family members homes and identify the largest kitchen space you can with room for a table for your guests to sit at.  A grand kitchen space is a fun place to host this event and will be a beautiful backdrop for the event.  If you don't have a grand kitchen, then it's absolutely ok to host the event outside or in a loungeroom with some kitchen-themed decorations.

So to the decorations - start with the ceiling - we love hundreds of budget party balloons in pink, white and red (the colours of love) all filled with helium and tied with ribbon curls strung from the ceiling in the main room of the party.  There is nothing more sweet than big bulbous balloons and thankfully they are cheap and cheerful as well!

For your party table, start with a white table cloth and add a fun pink and raspberry party table runner.  Decorate the centre of the table with jars of cooking utensils like whisks and wooden spoons and add some pretty pink or polka dot party plates, napkins, party cups and more from the range of party supplies from Pink Frosting.

Party Games and Activities

This is the perfect time to get out some fun cookbooks and let your chef skills shine! The great options for this party are to have your friends participate in a cooking class if you can organise to get a local chef, cake maker or baker in to run a cooking class for your guests.  If your budget doesn't stretch this far, you could all make the cake together as a group and then enjoy the spoils after it has baked - but don't forget lots of champagne while you're cooking.

Party Food, Drinks and Cake

The beauty of this party is the guests cater for themselves!  It is your job to buy great ingredients that are fun to work with and assemble for the guests.  Once you have cooked the creations, the guests can then munch into their own masterpieces for morning tea.

As for all bridal showers and kitchen teas - champagne is essential!  Don't forget to check out our guide to Bridal Shower Food and Drinks.

Party Favours and Gifts

There are so many wonderful kitchen themed wedding favours around that in conjunction with your fun themed household appliances as your decorations can make perfect kitchen tea party favours!
