Jungle Party Ideas

junglepartycake.jpg

Is that jungle drums I can hear? Some days when Tilly and Mish are in a mood I can’t help but think I have stumbled upon a jungle with roaring lions, stampeding elephants and cheeky monkeys. There is never a dull moment when you have children, as you run around after your little animals, leaping through the jungle, catching your monkey mid leap, your elephant mid stomp and lion mid roar. A jungle theme party for a first birthday is perfect for your wild one. Indoors or outdoors, you can make it fun, wild and noisy. Stick with jungle colours of green, yellow and brown along with Pink Frosting’s range of Jungle Party and Cheeky Monkey decorations.

First up, send out the themed invitations, like the cute grey baby elephant invites that come with all the materials required (envelopes, magnets). To set the jungle look (for indoor and outdoor options), attach paper flowers to green and brown streamers and hang them around and in front of the tables to look like jungle vines. Add some green pom poms with flowers stuck to them for good measure. Use green and jungle theme table covers and on top of them set up the jungle animals’ cupcake stand with the jungle animals’ cupcakes (decoration kit). Add little baskets for lollipops and soft candies and chocolates (for the big and little kids). Create a monkey cake or stick with the numeral one cake and decorate it with jungle animal candles. Around the room suspend animal print balloons – these the party guests can take home with them.

Have your birthday boy or girl wear a cute jungle felt first birthday party hat. For the little wild ones, feed them mini pizzas, creamy chicken crepes, meatballs, vegemite and cheese pinwheels, cheesy pumpkin polenta fingers, meatloaf, tropical jelly cups, berry yogurt and vanilla and chocolate ice creams served in little ice cream cups. There are some great cook books out there for babies and toddlers, packed with healthy options for birthday parties. As a parent, making sure you keep a healthy balance with your kids is important, and other parents will no doubt appreciate the effort you have gone to in providing a healthy, tasty party spread for their little ones to enjoy.

For activities why not set up some tables for the children to finger paint, play with home-made play doh, and colouring-in pictures. If you can, why not set up a sandpit for them to stomp, roar, hoot and have fun in. No child can resist the sandpit. My son comes home from his day at day care completely crumbed in sand! Have a face painter on hand to paint little faces up to look like tigers, monkeys, butterflies, elephants, have the mum’s and dads get in and have their faces painted too. Play children’s music CD’s; The Wiggles, Justine Clarke, Giggle & Hoot (to name a few) and jump in and dance with them too.

At the end of the party, when it is fast approaching nap time for the masses, send off your guests with cute little gift bags. Include an animal print balloon, jungle animal party favour, personalised jungle theme lollipop, mixed lollies and a little hand written thank you note with your little one’s handprint on the back of the paper.
