Ideas for Boxing Day Fun

boxingdaysale.jpg

After Christmas and before New Years’ Day is Boxing Day. It is a chance for you to lie in a cool, dark room and allow your stomach to digest all that you ate on Christmas in order to preserve you into your first week of that New Year diet you have planned. Australia loves Boxing Day. You can sprawl out on the couch and watch the cricket or if all things nautical interest you, then there is the Sydney to Hobart yacht race that sets sail on Boxing Day. OR you may be one who loves the excitement and challenge of the Boxing Day Sales and spend your morning pinned up against the glass shop door, and with your one eye that has not been squished shut by your cheek or another shoppers elbow, have made a scope of what you can see inside and where you are going to go. For you, it is serious. You have Christmas gifts to return and exchange and bargains to snap up.

You may find this year you want the bargains of the sales but don’t want to leave the comfort of your house and friends and family. Or your special someone does not want to leave the couch because they are still trying to digest Christmas lunch, what can you do? Easy! Leave your housecat on the couch with his mates. Put the left over Christmas food out for them with napkins, plates, (use the cute little boat place card holders as decorations) and I am sure they are more than capable of taking care of the rest so you can set up your own Boxing Day Sales. Make sure you have some party games on the side should they decide to have a stretch. Have a cricket set for the back yard or a paddle pool with toy boats in them and they can have their own Sydney to Hobart races.

Take advantage of the impending New Year to do a clean out of items and clothing you no longer need, use or wear and have your friends do the same then bring it all together for a sale. Money for items can go to the woman who owned the item or you could use it as a way of raising money for charity – start your New Year with a wonderful deed! You may find some treasures amongst your friend’s wares and they in yours and you are making room so you can go shopping and buy new stuff! Set up a tea party, or wine and nibbles. Your friends may find it much more fun than being elbowed in the ribs by other shoppers! Include some games and select some items to give away as prizes. Have a shopper’s race where the person who can put the most clothes on in a minute gets to keep the clothes. Have a handbag on display filled with jelly beans and whoever guesses the correct number gets the handbag or Pink frosting Gift Voucher. Organise to have some bags printed up so your guests can keep their purchases in them.

Take time out from your shopping to go and watch the guys race their toy boats or play cricket. Basically unwind and have fun with your friends and like I said, use it as a way to raise money for a worthy cause and make space in your closet! You can consider the following for your Boxing Day party:
