Getting the Best out of Party Balloons

No party (especially children’s party) is complete without balloons. No male adult can resist the lure of the helium balloon to goof around with. Balloons add that bright and playful touch to your party. I have seen balloons with confetti in them and they are used at weddings to pop on the dance floor, sprinkling confetti over the guests as they dance the night away. Children will always beg and plead to have a balloon to play with (Matilda and Hamish never turn down a free balloon, or a free sausage and bread – they take after their dad), and with balloons now in all shapes, sizes, styles, colours and patterns balloons are a cost effective way of decorating your venue. There is a balloon for every occasion. There are also balloon accessories. You can try your hand at making balloon bouquets, by making up your little balloons and secure to balloon sticks. Then place a piece of florist foam into a base like a little bucket or into a vase filled with the gel beads for your table centre pieces.

The balloon weights are great in that you can string your helium balloons and have them bob about, secured to the weights. Pink Frosting provide numeral balloon weights for the milestone birthdays, sparkle and stars balloon weights that are sure to jazz up the venue, baby shoes for the baby shower, christening or first birthday party. You can also vary the length of the balloon string so you can also set them up on tables i.e. at the ends of the present or cake tables at the party. For Matilda’s first birthday we had helium balloons with Disney balloon weights. We secured one novelty balloon to each weight and placed one on each end of the food table and on either side of her highchair, and strung up the rest of the balloons around the pagoda of Mike’s parents’ house. At the end of the party all the children received a little goodie bag, slice of cake and one of the novelty balloons with a balloon weight. That way the kids could take it home and place it in their bedroom instead of the other options of tying the string to the wrist or placing balloons in the bag for them to inflate when they got home. It is something that we will use for future birthday parties, the kids loved the balloon and especially the weight which, when the balloon was long gone could be displayed in their room as a little memento of Tilly’s first birthday party.

Play party games that use the balloons. I remember a friend’s 10th birthday party where we had to race across the backyard with a balloon between our knees. When we completed our lap the balloon had to be passed over with our knees to the next person but you had to be careful not to drop it or pop it. If the balloons are for a children’s party always make sure you have extras. A popped balloon or a balloon that has escaped the little hands can induce tears and it is quickly stopped by presenting them with another balloon. Helium balloons can be keepsakes after the event. In our little treasure boxes are the novelty balloons from the day both kids were born (Congratulations it’s a Girl/ Congratulations it’s a Boy) and the main balloons for their first birthdays.

Like I said, balloons are a fantastic cost effective way of filling up your venue and are so much fun for the kids and there is nothing like watching a bunch of “grown-ups” with a helium balloon and singing like Alvin and the Chipmunks. So go on over to Pink Frosting today for your balloons and party decorations. They have everything to make sure your party is bright, colourful, memorable and affordable!
