Getting Married Nicole Kidman Style...
On the 25th June 2006 well-wishers gathered along the street outside Manly’s Cardinal Ceretti Memorial Chapel in Sydney to cheer on the blushing bride as she arrived in her silver Bentley with the rest of the wedding party. It was about time she found happiness after her marriage to Tom Cruise. Yes that is right, I am writing about Nicole Kidman’s marriage to Keith Urban. One of Australia’s favourite actresses, she first wed Tom Cruise in a private ceremony way back when. This time round her wedding was an intimate, warm and loving ceremony and reception with their close family and friends. Very chic and sophisticated, which is the epitome of who Nicole Kidman is.
If you are a fan of Nicole and want to have a similar wedding but don’t know where to start, fear not my Bride-to-Be for I have the answer! You don’t have to have a church full of celebrities, but you can make your loved ones feel like they are at a celebrity event! Nicole got married in an exquisite chiffon gown (designer of course) and wore her hair in beautiful soft loose curls, pinned back with an ivory rose that matched the ivory rose and gardenia bouquet. You could opt for a jewel hair comb. She also wore diamond and pearl earrings (check out Pink Frosting's Peacock Bridal Pearl and Crystal Earrings).
Now this is what I love – decking out the reception! Our Nic held her reception in a large white tent, decked out with crystal chandeliers and red gardenias hanging from them. There was a red carpet to walk in on and red roses everywhere. Lavish and oh-so-sophisticated! Guests were serenaded by Hugh Jackman, Keith Urban jumped up to sing a song to his new wife and a band played the night away. At the end of it the dance happy, well-fed guests left carrying Tiffany & Co desk clocks which were engraved with “A Moment in Time, June 25, 2006, Nicole & Keith”. How can you even come close to this you wonder? Well, with the help of Pink Frosting you can have the A-List Wedding event too. To set your Nicole-inspired theme invite your guests to your special day with lavish monogram wedding invitations similar to the ones sent out by Nicole and Keith.
Nicole and Keith had 1000 candles lighting up their ceremony, if that does not work for you have them in the reception instead. For your reception set the scene with tables covered with crisp white table cloths and matching chair covers, tied with red ribbon and a clear crystal pin to secure the bow. Decorating each table, candelabra or tall vases filled with red roses and gardenias with clear crystal acrylic garlands draped over to create the chandelier look. Around the base of each candelabrum/vase scatter red rose petals and clear crystal ice scatters which will pick up the glow of the candles. For place cards you could use antique finish place cards/photo frames. The head table, instead of candelabras sit red roses in monogrammed vases and have crystal accents in the flower arrangements, with tea lights and crystal scatters along the table – you have to keep the head table decorations low so everyone can see your blissfully happy newly-wed grins!
Nicole and Keith gifted their guests with Tiffany & Co, but you don’t have to rob a bank to provide your guests with something just as nice. You could look at Champagne Timers for the gentlemen and a cute little tea infuser for the ladies. If you have children attending, you cannot go wrong with a great big lollipop.
By the end of the night you and your hubby will well and truly be the new Nicole and Keith of weddings and ready to embark on your tropical island honeymoon and a long and happy life together!
