Crazy for Christmas Crackers
Snap! Cracker! Pop! Christmas is on the way and that only means one thing. Santa Claus is coming? No. Must start Christmas shopping? Well yes, but that’s not what I’m getting at. So what on earth am I ranting on about? It’s time to stock up on Christmas crackers! It doesn’t take much to get me excited about Christmas as you can most likely tell. But the best thing about Christmas crackers is all the different ways you can decorate with the snappy Christmas cracker. Allow me to enlighten (and hopefully inspire) you.
The most common way to decorate with Christmas crackers is to place them on your dining table at each place setting for your favourite Christmas meal. However, Australia’s #1 online party shop Pink Frosting would love to share some creative ideas that will have Santa visiting your place more than once a year.
Have you thought about making your Christmas crackers a feature in the middle of your dining table? Find a nice big brightly coloured bowl and fill it with enough crackers for everyone. To get the kids involved, ask them to decorate the bowl with tinsel and they can choose the crackers as well. If you’re not keen on cluttering the dining table, find a big cardboard box which the kids can decorate and turn the box into a Christmas lucky dip. Along with crackers, add Christmas tree decorations and chocolates into the mix so the lucky dip is genuinely a surprise. On Christmas Day, visitors can get into the spirit by fishing for their own festive treat.
Now everyone knows that Christmas Day equals the adult table and the good old kids table. A sneaky way of enticing little ones to eat their Christmas Day feast is by placing a few child friendly themed Christmas crackers in front of their plate. The best ones I’ve seen on the Pink Frosting website are Disney crackers decorated with princesses and Toy Story characters. I also love the Winnie the Pooh and friends Christmas crackers. I’m a Piglet fan from way back.
Themed crackers can also be used to decorate birthday parties for the lucky child who shares their birthday with the ever so busy Christmas month of December. Your child will feel special knowing that they get to celebrate Christmas a bit early as well as blowing out the birthday candles and unwrapping two sets of presents so close together. Double bonus!
Another great way of surprising little kids and the big kids on Christmas Day is by slipping a cracker into their Christmas stocking. Crackers are an affordable way to fill stockings. Just make sure everyone keeps their paper hat on during the day while reading out their Christmas joke before everyone eats. Take some family snaps to remind everyone how much fun they’ve had and add these to the family photo albums.
To keep the kids busy at a Christmas gathering, how about setting up a little ‘Make your own Christmas cracker’ workshop. Toilet rolls, wrapping paper, textas and ribbon are all you need. Don’t forget to supply lollies for the inside and maybe even a mini toy.
The family home is not the only place for Christmas crackers. December is filled with work place Christmas parties and end of year celebrations. To accompany the Christmas pudding, bring along some crackers to brighten the office. For a bit of class, I love the Starburst black and gold luxury Christmas crackers and the silver swirls Christmas crackers.
As I write this article, there’s just over 6 weeks until Santa arrives. Do yourself a favour and start your shopping early. Pink Frosting is here to help with all your festive decorations so have a quick look through our website.
