Celebrity Wedding Inspiration: Bethenny Frankel

bethenny-frankel-wedding-intimate.jpg

On the 28th March 2010, Bethenny Frankel became a “Housewife” in a Jewish ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York City. She wed Jason Hoppy in an intimate ceremony of seventy guests and the room the ceremony was held in was also transformed into the wedding reception. Oh and the bride was seven months pregnant!

Bethenny Frankel – the breakout star of the reality television show Real Housewives of New York, she won audience’s over with her no holds attitude, her New Yorker tenacity as she launched her Skinny Girl Margareta (which has since spawned Skinny Girl Mojitos) and she is now hosting her own chat show, along with her books, blog and everything else she has managed to take on. The reason I have chosen her wedding for “Celebspiration” is because she was pregnant at the time, her wedding by New York and reality television standards was classy and intimate (okay so it was filmed and aired on her spin off program Bethenny Ever After?) but you cannot fault her a wedding so New York chic it almost hurts.

Turning up before the ceremony to the Four Season’s Hotel in a white tracksuit with “Bride” on the back in crystals, the Jewish ceremony started at seven pm. Her dog Cookie was the ring bearer – the happy couple exchanged Kristen Farrell rings. They stood in the centre of the room on a white stage that had been built over the rooms water feature (this was later removed for the reception). With the walls draped in shimmery white fabric, and hanging baskets filled with fuchsia coloured flowers. On each corner of the stage, small trees stood with rose petals scattered around their bases. The guests were able to sit and enjoy the ceremony, unobstructed. Bethenny glowed in her seven months pregnant, in a beautiful Amsale gown that celebrated her baby bump. Her dark hair was left out and in loose waves; a gorgeous flowing veil was all she added to it.

Following the ceremony, the restaurant room was “flipped” to become the reception with tables set around the room and the water feature was open, at one point there were bubbles. One of the guests at one stage jumped into the water! The guests dined on caviar in mini potatoes’ with sour cream, puff shells with egg yolk and lobster with sherry dipping sauce. For mains, it was a choice of dover sole or filet mignon. Very New York! The party went on into the early hours of the morning with a very happy bride and groom leaving with smiles on their faces, the following day was their honeymoon. Jason looked dapper in his suit, while Bethenny had changed back into her white tracksuit and clutching her veil they climbed into their limo.

Her whole wedding though would not of happened had it not been for a very brave and patient event designer, Mr Shawn Rabideau, Events and Design. Bethenny’s assistant had found Shawn on The Knot’s web site and he jumped on board to create Bethenny Frankel’s dream wedding in only four weeks. That is right! He pulled the whole event together in just four weeks. Apparently the Four Season’s at the time of year she was getting married was booked out. Shawn’s persistence came through and she was married in her favourite venue. In an interview, Shawn joked that he did consider setting the tables with Dixie (disposable) cups. He had never worked on a wedding in such a narrow time frame. But he did it and he also got to enjoy a slice of the Pink Cake Box’s red velvet wedding cake (square tiered, white icing with red icing ribbon and bow).
