Black Wedding Decorating Ideas

Black is back – choosing a colour theme for your wedding can sometimes be tricky, especially if you have a groom that would like to be including in the design of the day......that’s where the simplicity of the colour black is perfect.........its sophisticated, its elegant, its “uni-sexy”, and it never dates.

As we all know, there is a myriad of things you can incorporate into a wedding – you can literally go as far as the eye can see (or is it more like “as far as the budget will stretch?”). One of the essentials is the stationery - the invitations, place-cards, order of service, menus, thankyous etc etc etc – and that’s where Pink Frosting have all bases covered.

A great look right now is the damask design – very ala Florence Broadhurst, who was a timeless classic Australian designer, renowned for her signature hand-painted wall paper creations. There’s the complete stationary set – the Save the Date, Invitations, RSVP cards, Note cards, & Order of Service.

This fabulous design is also very transferrable through to the decor for your reception, to create one cohesive “look and feel”. Here are a couple of quirky ways to incorporate the design to give your wedding a real point of difference:

Quench the thirst – perhaps your ceremony is out doors in a fabulous garden or on the beach or in the country. These personalised bottles of water are fun way to kick off the look. Plus a nice way to end as well – that is, at the end of the night when the bar has closed, its always the glasses of water that come out to help wrap up the night, and it keeps the “just one more?” party people at bay (and lets face it we’ve all been there?) – so why not give them a bottle of your water to take with them instead?

Pillow Talk - if you’re lucky enough to have your wedding out of town that involves the guests staying overnight, these adorable chocolates will be an absolute hit – and ask the hotel do a ‘room-drop’ (AKA “Pillow Drop”) for when your guests return to their room that night..........

Your shout – these tickets are a snappy idea, and can be used in so many different ways. Great if you’re at a venue where the ‘after-party’ is a public bar - so your guests can use as a drink token. Or, perhaps as your ‘guest gift’ (ala favour) you’d like to give everyone a bottle of wine, and rather than cluttering up the table with rows and rows of bottles, have a “ticket” at each place-setting for your guests to collect the wine on their way out at the end of the night. (Also ensures everyone gets one and someone doesn’t ‘lift’ one too many?)

One for the cellar – following on from the idea above, have that bottle of wine personalised with your own labels – a great keepsake whether it be one for the cellar or just a great “quaffer” the next time you catch up with them over drinks.

Stop the bottleneck – using seating cards adds a lovely personal touch to your wedding. And its a very handy system to avoid the queuing at the table-plan board, plus it makes the whole process of getting the guests seated so much easier (the venue will love you!). Its also a really nice job to give to someone in the family that wants to help but you just weren’t sure what to ask them to do. Its a great way of getting them around to all your guests. And the perfect time to hand them out is during pre-drinks, whilst you guys are off having your photos done. Another bonus :  its a great way to check that everyone has arrived too!
