Beverly Hills Wedding Style

The Real Housewives Of…has taken television by storm as people (including me) tune in to watch how the “Real Housewives” go about their daily business of spending money, hosting parties and bickering amongst themselves. Out of all of them – Atlanta, New Jersey, O.C., New York, Washington and Beverly Hills, my favourite housewife has to be Lisa Vanderpump. She is well spoken with the soft British accent, is quick witted and very successful. This last season saw her finally getting her wish – seeing her daughter Pandora marry and boy what a wedding! The ceremony and reception were held on the grounds of Lisa’s mansion. The whole event was orchestrated by uber wedding co-ordinator Kevin Lee (who I adore) and at times butted heads with Lisa over his vision of the Beverly Hills wedding. In the end he came through for the Vanderpumps’ and the ceremony was like a fairy tale.

An evening ceremony, Pandora in a gown designed by Ian Stewart (with extra roses sewn on by Pandora and her mum), walked down the aisle to her garden ceremony with her beaming dad, Ken. At the altar were pink roses, free standing candelabras, and a beautiful ornate table and swathes of white fabric set against the back drop of the Vanderpump’s garden. Rose petals covered the stage and as the night closed in candles lit up. The reception was held in a large white tent set up on the tennis courts. Pink and white flowers adorned tables and were wrapped around poles and hung from crystal chandeliers. Candles glistened and the guests were treated to a wedding that looked and felt like it cost millions (but reportedly only set them back $15,000!)

You too can re-create the Vanderpump style but without the reported $15,000 price tag with the help of wedding decorations shop Pink Frosting. Set the scene with these beautiful Platinum Hearts wedding invitations and decorate your ceremony with an aisle runner, with rose petals scattered down it. On either side of the aisle, place tea light holders. To replicate the altar, simply look through the op shops for a similar style table and with a sanding, bit of white paint with gold flourishes it will look beautiful up there. On the table scattered petals with buttercream and pink tissue paper pom poms and vases filled with floating tea lights with the wooden cut out words “Eternal”. To the side place the champagne flower ring pillow with the wedding rings secured.

For the reception you can bring the garden indoors. On crisp white table cloths add a table runner in a soft pink or cream colour. Keep it simple with the table centrepieces of boxwood wreaths with a vase filled with floating candles in the centre of the wreath.  Light up the room with fairy lights and drape crystal strands to represent lavish crystal chandeliers. Around the venue show your creative side with rose pomanders set on to pieces of dowel. Around the dowel wrap in ivy and fairy lights and secured in a pot plant placed around the room. Use wedding favours like the bevelled mirror gift boxes, or chocolates in the Martha Stewart doily lace box. For the gentlemen a wine bottle stopper and place cards set in little window planter boxes and beside each place card a little bottle of wedding bubbles.
