Best Honeymoons in Australia

beachhoneymoon.jpg

With Pink Frosting’s very own Jodie recently announcing her engagement, the team at Pink Frosting have gone more wedding crazy than usual.  We’re offering her wedding planning ideas, wedding decorations, and of course, lots of locations to consider for her honeymoon.  We’re a caring, sharing bunch so thought we’d share with you some of the best Australian honeymoon locations we have been bombarding Jodie with over the last week or so.

Byron Bay, New South Wales

Those of you after an escape to a beautiful location by the water combined with a town full of atmosphere can look no further.  While Byron Bay is surrounded by beautiful beaches, there are also markets, adventure activities like sky-diving and community festivals to immerse yourself in.  Byron Bay is best avoided around ‘Schoolies’ as many school leavers head to Byron Bay in November/early December.

Alice Springs, Northern Territory

For a honeymoon that will leave you speechless, Alice Springs gives you an enriching experience full of Australian and Aboriginal history.  Be sure to visit Uluru and climb Australia’s famous red rock.  Weather is regularly above 40 degrees in summer and can get below freezing between May and September.  Ensure you pack all types of clothing to combat the cold nights.  For something a little different, travel to Alice Springs by interstate train The Ghan.  It’s better than you think!

Whitsundays Islands, Queensland

With so many islands to choose from, you can’t go past the gorgeous Whitsundays.   The Great Barrier Reef is the star attraction and if you’re keen for whale season, June to September is the best time of year to visit.  Hamilton Island and Daydream Island are quite popular honeymoon destinations with pristine white beaches and water activities to enjoy.

Barossa Valley, South Australia

For the wine lovers among us, the Barossa Valley is one of the best, if not the best, place in Australia to taste a drop of exquisite red and white wine.   Each winery has its own personality with many wineries located on the same road or in the same town.  Apart from the wineries, towns such as Nuriootpa, Tanunda and Angaston are great for a bit of country shopping with local food companies like Angas Park a delightful place to visit.  A perfect honeymoon if all you want is to eat, drink and relax.

Cradle Mountain, Tasmania

Tasmania is home to the breath taking Cradle Mountain.  A spectacular location surrounded by forest and national parks, this wilderness experience is perfect for couples who enjoy hiking and bush walks. By taking pleasure in Australia’s natural delights, you are guaranteed a peaceful honeymoon where you can spend some quality time with your new husband.

Daylesford, Victoria

If you’re seeking a honeymoon full of pleasure and pampering, then Daylesford is the place for you.  Located about 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne, Daylesford is famous for its range and quality of day spas.  With many bed and breakfast and luxurious places to stay, you’ll never want to come home.

Broome, Western Australia

A 2.5 hour flight from Perth, Broome is an exotic Australian location famous for pearling, beautiful sunsets and 22km of white sand on Cable Beach.  There are numerous resorts, eco-resorts and deluxe hotels to stay in with a rich local culture and natural treasures to admire. The dry season from April to September is the best time of year to visit with daytime temperatures averaging 34 degrees.

Australia’s secret honeymoon location

Have you considered Lord Howe Island for your honeymoon?  Although the island lies approximately 600km northeast of Sydney and southeast of Brisbane, it actually forms part of the state of New South Wales. This secluded location will guarantee you a private honeymoon experience with only 400m tourist beds available on the entire island.  You will have your new husband all to yourself but may have to share him with the miles of ocean in front of you. Hardly a sacrifice though, right?

Australia’s #1 online wedding shop Pink Frosting hopes you have found some inspiration for your upcoming honeymoon and good luck with your holiday planning.
