A Touch of Vintage

vintageweddingphotography.jpg

One of the many perks that comes from writing for Pink Frosting is I get to buy up big on all things wedding in the name of research. As I pour over pictures and stories from magazines, sit and study celebrity weddings I find myself whisked away in all the romance and whimsy. Looking through the range of Pink Frosting products I make mental notes on all the things I would use for my wedding…only thing is I am already married! Hubby and I have been married for just over seven years now so it is too soon to be jumping in and renewing our vows, although it is something we do want to do for our children seeing as they were just twinkles in our eyes when we first got married. Let them be a part of the renewal and possibly gross them out in the process (ewwww! mum and dad are in love!).

A popular touch to weddings now is the vintage wedding theme. A chic nod to all things classic but made new again. There is rustic vintage – all things country rose with cute little vintage milk bottles and striped drinking straws. Teapots filled with flowers, fabric bunting and paper lanterns hanging from the trees as you celebrate outside in a beautiful garden. Little vintage letterboxes let your guests know where they will be seated. Add fairy lights, music and as you dance into the evening you enjoy the rustic vintage wedding.

Light up the silver screen with Hollywood vintage full to the brim with all the glamour of days gone by. From the stylish invitations to crystals and pearls adorning the tables. The bride in her staring roll, hair swept up in pin curls and a little birdcage veil. Feathers in her bouquet, and candles lighting up the tables. From an op shop find an old frame that you can clean up and then use it to display the table seating plan and at the table a mini frame with their name printed the same way black and white movies screened the actors’ dialogue.

There is vintage French. Get your ‘Gi - Gi’ on and make your guests go “oh-la-la!” With rich, decadent touches that could have them believing they are actually in the city of lurrrrve. Red velvet and crystals with feathers and lace, sip from gold champagne flutes, and marvel the crystal cake topper. Name your tables after French icons and landmarks. For outdoor Parisian vintage give your bridesmaids cute little fans or parasols to hold instead of bouquets. Also the French apparently never get fat, so plate up the éclairs and croissants, fruit and cheese and plenty of ‘wha-ine’ . Sorry that was my bad French accent there. I promise I will not attempt any more bad accents in my stories. My husband speaks French though and I got to say it’s pretty sexy (wink wink).

Then there is your vintage (and I think this is the best idea). Your family backgrounds come together on your wedding day. Have a display of parents, grandparents and great-grandparents on their wedding days in sepia prints. Decorate with items that come from your family. Personalise your wine bottles and with each table setting have a little “Did you know” card with a little bit of trivia about the newlyweds and their families. Celebrate in a venue that has significance to you and your family. You could set up a vintage scroll photo booth backdrop for your family and have their photos taken in black and white and sepia tones. Pink Frosting has a beautiful range covering all things vintage (I really love this job!).

Should you want the rustic vintage garden wedding, or the French vintage wedding (Oiu! Oui!...sorry I can’t help it! I sound like a really lame Pepe Le Pew), Hollywood vintage or Your vintage all the things you need to help share and celebrate your own vintage wedding can be found at Pink Frosting. We’d love to see what all you beautiful vintage brides-to-be, with the help of Pink Frosting come up with!
