2011 Christmas Trends

Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas! With 6 weeks until Santa and his adorable flying friends hit our shores, it’s time to start planning your Christmas celebrations and parties.  The Christmas list of things to do is always the longest of the year so allow Pink Frosting to make your job a little easier.  Our dedicated Christmas elves has been searching high and low, East to West (North Pole to be precise), right around the world to find Christmas goodies for you.  Their best discoveries are right here at Australia’s #1 online party shop Pink Frosting.

Should you wish to create a memorable December spectacular, here are some hot Christmas trends to make your celebration truly stand out.

Rainbow Christmas Decorations

Decorating the house with Christmas cheer is one of my favourite parts of Christmas.  There’s nothing I like better than decorating that green tree and hanging the wreath on the front door.  Traditionally, red and green are the colours of choice but this year, it’s all about rainbow coloured decorations.  Any colour combination goes! Colour combinations to consider include garden friendly green and purple, pretty pink, blue and silver, patriotic red, blue and white, classy silver and gold, girly pink and purple and the stylish black and gold.  You may like to unleash your rainbow inhibitions and decorate with every colour under the sun.

Homemade desserts

Keep me away from the dessert table otherwise there will be nothing left by the time you’ve finished entree.  I’m not the best cook but I give Christmas desserts a red hot go each year.  Homemade desserts will be the highlight on your dining table this year so start baking and fill your kitchen with sweet treats.  Christmas desserts to eat your heart out with could include the delicious chocolate truffle, scrumptious hedgehog slice, bite size rum balls, chocolate and summer fruit fondue and in keeping with Aussie tradition, the good old pavlova.  Bon appetite!

Themed Christmas parties

Who said themed parties are reserved for birthdays and dress up parties?  Not anymore! 2011 says hello to the themed Christmas party.  The sky is the limit when choosing a Christmas party theme but if you’re stuck for ideas here are some themes that’ll have you racing for the car and the computer on your search for the perfect party decorations:

  • Australian bush bash complete with cork hats and thongs
  • Beach and BBQ gathering with flower leis and sausages galore
  • Classy 'bling bling' full of sparkly treasures sprinkled around the house
  • Butterfly fantasy for the secret garden lovers among us
  • Santa’s workshop to keep the kids entertained for hours
  • Northern Christmas with snowflakes and snowmen

Candy jar favours

Favours are traditionally given to guests at a wedding to thank them for attending.  The Christmas favour is a new arrival delivered especially by Santa for family and friends for attending your Christmas celebration.  Candy jar favours are a trend hot off the press where you can personalise gorgeous candy jars to suit each loved one.  Fill candy jars for each person with their favourite sweet snacks such as marshmallows, chocolate freckles, personalised hard candy, chocolate hearts, fruit and nuts, spices or tea.  For a bit of fun, hang each candy jar on the Christmas tree with name labels for a yummy surprise gift.  Christmas tree candy jar favours are also a perfect for the Christmas wedding favour.
