1st Wedding Anniversary Celebration Ideas

The past year has seen some of the most high profile divorces. Kim Kardashian called it quits after 72 days. Heidi Klum and Seal folded after seven years. There are many in Hollywood who do not make it to their first year of marriage which is so sad. But back to reality, if you are coming up to your first wedding anniversary congratulations! Here’s to many, many more! It is a time for romantic celebration. You can celebrate your first anniversary with your family and friends, but personally I would of celebrated it with my husband. I say would of because our first wedding anniversary was spent with me all the way up in far north Queensland whilst Mike was in Brisbane. I could not even contact him to say happy anniversary. But, we were blessed with the birth of our beautiful niece on our first wedding anniversary. That is pretty wonderful! Also this year we come up to 11 years together with 8 of those years married.

Traditionally the first wedding anniversary is a gold anniversary with paper being the gift to give. Today though, clocks are the modern first wedding anniversary gift. The flower is the pansy. Why not make the occasion a romantic dinner for two at home? If you have the skills (or contacts), you could serve your husband/wife the same meal you had at your wedding, or some other menu ideas: an entrée of spinach ravioli with basil oil, for main, chargrilled chicken with spinach and raspberries or fettuccine primavera with smoked salmon, and mini mango and passionfruit pies or crème Brule for dessert. Also for some couples, they may have the top tier of their wedding cake kept for their first wedding anniversary. To incorporate the old tradition with the new, why not make your own paper gift for your loved one? Make up an anniversary card with ivory and gold paper and card. Add further embellishments like pearls or diamante’s. Beautiful!

Organise to have a book for your loved one made up, or if you are savvy with scrap booking use the Martha Stewart range to create your scrapbook. In the front of your book, write the vows you made to them on your wedding day and fill the book with photos and recounted stories of your first year of marriage and sum it up with your thoughts, feelings and wishes. On the last page, write “To Be Continued…” Set up your anniversary reception with touches of gold and white. Consider some of these: gold chocolate hearts, gold champagne toasting flutes, gold photo frames and gold gift box with a little token of your love (a scroll with promises for the second year of marriage or maybe a nice watch or little antique clock), all tied up in gold ribbon. White roses with bouquet jewels make up the centrepiece with white candles on either side and crystal scatters. Hold your husband/wife close as you dance to your song. Your wedding day was in front of all your friends and family; let this be your little celebration.

To celebrate your first year of marriage, let Pink Frosting help you create a beautiful anniversary for the both of you to remember for many years to come.
